Acts 4:12

they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:31
What does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? It means to believe in Who He is and what He did. It means to believe on the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus and what it does for us.
God sent Jesus to save a world condemned because of sin. Jesus is the sacrifice that atones for our sins. The word atone is not a word commonly used in our modern times. It means to make amends or satisfy a debt owed. It means to repair the damage done. To atone means to make it right. God sent Jesus to make things right.
But by the free gift of God's grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free. God offered him, so that by his blood he should become the means by which people's sins are forgiven through their faith in him. God did this in order to demonstrate that he is righteous. In the past he was patient and overlooked people's sins; but in the present time he deals with their sins, in order to demonstrate his righteousness. In this way God shows that he himself is righteous and that he puts right everyone who believes in Jesus.
Romans 3:24-26

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. And when one believes, one confesses or acknowledges.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
