Prayer is one of the essential ingredients to a growing relationship with God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. A good relationship is one where there is communication. That's what prayer is. It's simply communication with God. God talks to you, you talk to God.
One of the most essential ingredients in prayer is faith. The Lord Jesus tells us that we can get anything we ask for, but we must believe. Faith is the power behind prayer.
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye
shall receive.
Matthew 21:22
The way you get faith is by hearing. Many people believe everything the news media report. However, the things they report are not necessarily true. But people still believe them. People believe the opinion of someone they value. Children are a good example of that. Have you ever heard: "My Daddy said..." or "My Mama said...".
We need to believe God the same way a child believes his parent. But in order to believe God, we have to know what He says. God speaks to us through the Bible. It is the Word of God. We can increase our faith by studying His Word. At the right are various articles on salvation to help develop your faith.
