Exceeding Abundantly Above

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21

Paul said we ought to give glory to Him Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above. There’s no shortage of power with God. It goes far beyond what we could ask or think. That’s saying a lot. It agrees with what Jesus said. He said with God, all things are possible (Mark 10:27). Paul wanted the Church to understand this, so he prayed that they would come to know and understand the exceeding greatness of God’s power. Paul also said that this exceeding abundantly above power was according to it working in us.

What gets the power working in us? Faith. Remember, Paul wanted the Church to understand this exceeding great power to those who believe. The power comes forth when faith is exercised. Not only did Jesus say all things are possible with God, He also said all things are possible to those who believe (Mark 9:23). Faith in God allows the power of God to be released.

Paul experienced this. His faith and confidence in God was great. He looked to Him for deliverance from every evil work (2 Timothy 4:18). He expected the power of the Spirit to move on his behalf. He knew that prayer (which must be accompanied with faith) allows the power of the Highest to move.

When we believe, really believe God is able to do exceeding abundantly above anything we could ask or think. Paul knew what he was talking about. Once He cast a demon out of a young slave. Her owners had Paul and Silas beaten and tossed in prison. Paul and Silas gave glory to the One Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
Acts 16:25-26

Praise is one of the best expressions of our faith. Paul and Silas’ faith in God was evident in their praise. And God’s exceeding great power was manifested towards them. God’s great power produced an earthquake that shook the prison foundations, opened the doors, and loosed everyone’s bands.

The power working on the inside of us can produce miracles in our lives. Do you want the power?
