Jesus Took Up Our Infirmities

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.
Isaiah 53:4
(New International Version)

Isaiah 53 is a prophecy concerning the work of Jesus Christ. One of the things Jesus would do is to take up our infirmities and sickness, and carry away our sorrows. This is seen throughout the gospels. Jesus would heal the sick. In some cases, everyone who was sick was healed. Matthew said it fulfilled this prophecy (Matthew 8:17).

Healing is part of the redemptive work of Christ. Redemption is a Bible term that’s not used in our everyday language, so it can be difficult to understand. One of its meanings is the ransom. Jesus paid the ransom for our healing. Why did He have to pay the ransom? Because the devil uses sickness and disease as a way of binding us.

Understand this: God doesn’t put sickness and disease on you, the devil does. Jesus healed a woman and said Satan had her bound (Luke 13:16). The Apostle John said Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8). One of his works is to hold us captive (or bound) with sickness and disease. But Jesus paid the ransom so we could be free.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:38

God sent Jesus to heal the sick. God anointed Jesus to heal the sick. Surely, Jesus took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. It’s a sure thing. It’s an established fact. Then why are so many Christians sick? Because of unbelief.

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Mark 6:5-6

Many people believe sometimes God heals and sometimes He doesn’t, because sometimes people get healed and sometimes they don’t. The truth of the matter is we receive everything we ask of God by faith (Matthew 21:22). If we don’t receive what we ask, it’s because we don’t believe.

However, if you believe God and His Word, and refuse to doubt, then you will get the manifestation. Just don’t stop believing. How long do you have to believe? Believe until it manifests, because the Word of God works effectually in those who believe (1 Thessalonians 2:13). It’s a sure thing.
