Learning God’s Will

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John 17:3

God wants you to know Him, intimately. The more you know Him, the more you learn about His will for your life. Prayer is very important to knowing Him more.

Next to the Lord Jesus, David is probably the greatest example of an intimate relationship with God. Many of the Psalms were written by David and they show his prayers to God. One of the prayers he continually prayed was to know God’s way. Another way of saying it is to know God’s will. Psalm 25 is an excellent example of this. He asked again and again for God to teach him His way.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 5:30

Jesus, the ultimate Example, had one purpose in life: to do the Father’s will. In order for Jesus to hear, judge, and know the will of the Father, He had to spend time in prayer. The gospels show Jesus prayed regularly.

The Apostle Paul also prayed regularly. Most of the prayers in the New Testament were written by him. He desired to know God’s will. He even prayed this for the Church because God wants you to know His will for your life.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Ephesians 1:17-19

This prayer will help you to learn about God and His will for your life. By praying this prayer regularly, God will reveal to you more and more His plan and purpose for Your life. It’s a good plan filled with blessings.
