Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
1 John 1:9
Forgiveness of sins is at the heart of the gospel. Every one of us needs to be forgiven, because every one of us is born into sin. It’s inherited from Adam, the first man (Romans 5:12). Because of the disobedience of that one man, we are all born sinners. It’s not unusual when we sin because it’s in our nature. Just like it’s not unusual that a dog barks; it’s his nature to bark. The problem with sin, however, is that it produces death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
God wants us in His kingdom. He wants us in His heaven. However, sin stops us from going to heaven. Sin separates us from God. Unless something is done concerning the sin in our lives, we can’t go to heaven, because there’s no sin in heaven.
If it were not for the love and grace of God, we would be in a hopeless situation. God sent Jesus so that we might have forgiveness of sins. He sent Him to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29). This is the very essence of the gospel. Through Jesus, we are forgiven of our sins. And when God forgives, He forgets. He will not hold that sin against you (Hebrews 10:17).
Does this mean we can sin all we want and just ask God to forgive us according to His word? “"I’m really attracted to that man. I’m going to ask God to forgive me for sleeping with him. After all, God sent Jesus to take away my sins."”
Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it is because they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil.
1 John 3:7-8
(New Living Translation)
God wants you in His Kingdom. He wants you to belong to Him and not to the devil. Sin separates you from God. It would not only be foolish, but also dishonorable to God to continue a lifestyle of sin. The wages if sin is still death and the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Don’t continue living in sin. Come to God and receive repentance and forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
